Former Stony Brook All-American Frankie Caridi became the newest member of the Bison women's lacrosse coaching staff in October 2014.
Caridi was a highly decorated student-athlete at Stony Brook over the last three years. A 2014 Stony Brook graduate with a degree in sociology, Caridi was the Seawolves’ starting goalie on two America East championship teams. As a senior in 2014 she earned IWLCA Third Team All-America honors and was named the Lacrosse Magazine and ILWomen.com Goalie of the Year. She was also picked as the America East Defensive Player of the Year and was a nominee for the Tewaaraton Award, given to the national player of the year. Caridi was a two-time IWLCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region selection.
Caridi led all Division I goalies in save percentage and goals-against average in both 2013 and 2014. She graduated as Stony Brook’s all-time program leader in wins (41), goals-against average (5.91) and save percentage (.514). Caridi also spent one season at Adelphi, and she was named the Division II Goalie of the Year and a First Team All-American while leading the Panthers to the national title.
Caridi also brings some coaching experience to Bucknell, as she has served as a coach and mentor with Commack Youth League, Premier Lacrosse, Run and Gun Lacrosse Camp and the Long Island Yellow Jackets.
“We are extremely fortunate to welcome such a decorated former student-athlete to our coaching staff,” said head coach Randall Goldsborough. “Frankie has a proven track record of excellence as a student-athlete, and our program will benefit tremendously from her leadership skills. Her passion, dedication and work ethic are exactly what we need to continue to move our program forward, and I am very excited for our current student-athletes to have her as a mentor. Her accomplishments in the goal are incredible, and I am excited to have her share her expertise and her personal experiences with our goalies.”
