Head coach Trevor Woodruff completes his staff for the 2024-25 season by hiring Owen Brown as assistant coach. The hire rounds out a deeply skilled staff with Division I coaching and playing experience.
"I could not be more excited to join the Bucknell staff," said Brown. "Thank you to Coach Woodruff for believing in me for this position. I can't wait to contribute to such an excellent program, and my wife and I look forward to joining the Bucknell community."
Brown journeys to Bucknell from the University of San Francisco, where he spent the past four seasons as the Assistant Coach/Director of Player Development. USF posted a double-digit win total every season, including 19 wins during the 2022-23 campaign. Their season ended with an appearance in the WNIT against Washington. WNIT appearances were common during his tenure as USF earned three WNIT bids and one win defeating Houston during the 2021 WNIT. The Dons scheduled ambitiously and defeated California and USC while Brown was on staff. USF was a constant power in the tough West Coast Conference (WCC), notching 39 league wins in four years. They twice recorded a victory in the WCC Tournament.
Before being hired as a full-time coach, Brown worked four years as the women's basketball team manager. He assisted coaches with planning and leading individual workouts and led the scout team in game preparations.
"We're excited for Owen to join our Bison family," said Woodruff. "He will bring great energy and years of Division I experience with him to Lewisburg. Additionally, his West Coast roots will only strengthen our ability to draw future Bison from that very talented part of the country. I'm looking forward to everyone meeting him and his wife Molly, when they complete their move to Central Pennsylvania in early August."
Brown graduated twice from USF, earning a Bachelor's in History with a minor in Spanish in 2019 and then receiving a Master's of Education in 2020. He is a native of San Jose, California, and has over a decade of experience working basketball camps.
