Kendrick O’Mary was named the strength and conditioning coach in July 2026. O’Mary brings 17 years of strength and conditioning experience to the Bison including a stint at Patriot League foe William & Mary.
Most recently, he spent a year and a half as the Assistant AD/Director of Sports Performance at Sacramento State University. O’Mary served as the head football athletic performance coach during that time and was in charge of all aspects of energy system development. He also oversaw a staff of two full-time football strength and conditioning coaches, three olympic strength and conditioning coaches and a host of interns. Additionally O’Mary developed a policies and procedures manual for the sports performance department at Sacramento State.
O’Mary is currently on a streak of five consecutive winning seasons as a football strength and conditioning coach that spanned over his season at Sacramento State and four seasons at his former college institution, William & Mary.
The strength and conditioning coach spent four seasons as the Associate AD/Director of Student Athlete High Performance at William & Mary prior to his stint at Sacramento State. During his time with the Griffins, the team became CAA Football Champions in 2022. O’Mary was the head football athletic performance coach and was in charge of all aspects of energy system development. He oversaw all 23 teams that consisted of almost 550 student athletes as well as a staff of four full-time employees and several interns. Along with several other responsibilities, he designed and oversaw the one million dollar project of renovating the Joseph Montgomery Weight Room and the design and development of the new Sports Performance Center Weight Room.
Prior to his time with William & Mary, O’Mary spent four seasons at Howard University as the Director of Strength & Conditioning. He oversaw 19 Division I men’s and women’s teams with the scheduling of weight room times and development of the speed strength and conditioning programs. O’Mary served as the head strength and conditioning coach for developing speed, strength and conditioning programs for football, men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, track & field and women’s soccer. He also oversaw one full-time assistant as well as interns and was in charge of the weight room budget for equipment and nutrition.
Before Howard, O’Mary was an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the United States Military Academy from October 2013 through June 2017. During his time at Army, the Black Knights baseball team were Patriot League Conference Champions in 2013. At Army, he was in charge of developing all aspects of strength, speed and agility programs for Army baseball, softball, men’s and women’s rugby and sprint football. O’Mary also developed the strength and conditioning programs for wrestling and men’s soccer for a period of time during his stint and assisted with football and men’s basketball when needed.
O’Mary’s first stop as a full time strength and conditioning coach came from his alma mater, Eastern Kentucky University. He spent two years as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at EKU before being named the assistant strength and conditioning coach in 2012. During his time with Eastern Kentucky University, the men’s basketball and baseball teams were OVC Champions. O’Mary served as the head strength and conditioning coach for men’s basketball, baseball, softball, women’s soccer, men’s golf, men’s and women’s field events and sprint squads throughout his three years with the program. He also assisted with football, volleyball and women’s basketball. O’Mary developed rehab plans for injured athletes and both developed and directed the EKU Weight Room Internship Program as well.
Before getting into his graduate assistant program at EKU, O’Mary spent time interning in the field. While completing his degree at EKU, he served as a strength and conditioning intern for a year before spending a summer as a football strength and conditioning intern at the University of Louisville in 2011.
O’Mary holds several certifications including NSCA-CSCS, USAW Level 2, Functional Range Conditioning, Clinical Weightlifting and ECSI-Adult & Child CPR and AED, Standard First Aid.
O’Mary graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training in 2010 and then with a Master of Science in Sports Administration in 2012.
