Andrew Folmar was named the Offensive Coordinator in February 2025. Folmar brings 24 years of coaching experience from seven different collegiate programs, including conference foe Lehigh, to the Bison.Â
Folmar has worked with wide receivers and quarterbacks throughout his years as well as serving as a head coach, associate head coach and offensive coordinator at different schools. He oversaw the development of 75 all-conference players, five offensive players of the year, three conference rookies of the year, three Harlon Hill trophy candidates, two academic all-district players, one Academic All-American, one scholar athlete of the year, a Walter Payton Award finalist and a Jerry Rice Award finalist. Folmar has also seen teams to four FCS playoff appearances and one conference championship.
Most recently, Folmar served as the associate head coach, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Elon University. During his eight years with the Phoenix, Folmar helped the team to three FCS playoff appearances in 2017, 2018 and 2022. He also coached 2021 Walter Payton Award finalist and 2017 Jerry Rice Award finalist in quarterback Davis Cheek during his tenure.
Folmar also has prior experience coaching in the Patriot League, having spent three seasons as an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Lehigh. In 2016, his offense put up 483.8 yards per game which ranked sixth nationally in total offense and it averaged 38.8 points per game which ranked ninth. The 2016 Mountain Hawks team ranked as high as18th in the national polls. His offense ranked in the top ten in various categories including: passing efficiency (fifth), passing offense (sixth) and third down conversion percentage (sixth). The Mountain Hawks went undefeated in Patriot League play that season and earned an automatic bid to the FCS playoffs as well as produced one all-american, the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and seven all-conference honorees. Folmar also spearheaded the 2015 Mountain Hawks offense that averaged 462.5 yards per game and featured the Patriot League’s top-ranked offense and second-ranked rushing offense.
Before he ventured to Lehigh, Folmar gained experience at the head coaching position at the Division II level at Kutztown University for one year after being elevated from the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the previous five years. Fulmor sculpted the Golden Bear’s offense into one of the top offenses in Division II football and mentored a total of 16 All-PSAC East athletes, two PSAC East Offensive Players of the Year, One CoSIDA Academic All-American, two Academic All-District selections and 15 PSAC Scholar-Athletes. Fulmor took over an offensive unit that ranked 96th in scoring and 86th in total offense in 2008 and was able to build a unit that never ranked below 12th in the nation in scoring offense from 2009-2013. His offense also led the Golden Bear’s to its first Division II playoff berth, first playoff win, first PSAC championship and highest AFCA Poll ranking at No. 6. Folmar developed quarterback Kevin Morton at Kutztown who was named the PSAC East Offensive Player of the Year twice and was a two-time regional finalist for the Division II Player of the Year Award, the Harlon Hill Trophy.Â
Folmar has also served as an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of New Haven (2008), a wide receivers coach at Millersville University (2001, 2003-2008) and a quarterbacks and wide receivers coach at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (2002-2003).
As a quarterback at Millersville University from 1997-2000, Folmar was a four-time All-PSAC East selection, three-time team MVP and two-time captain. He set numerous single season and career records and was a regional finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy in 2000. Folmar was inducted into the Millersville Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013.
Originally from Chambersburg, Pa., Folmar graduated from Millersville University with a degree in elementary education and a minor in athletic coaching. Folmar and his wife Heather have five children – daughters MacQuarrie and Tessa, and sons Gavin, Blake and Casen.Â
