Update from Head Cheerleading Coach Kasi Mitchell -- December 2024

Dear Bucknell Cheerleading Alumni, Parents, and Friends,
This cheerleading season has been one of growth and preparation as we work toward our biggest goal: a great showing at Nationals in April! The team has been focusing heavily on enhancing our tumbling and stunting skills while attending several NCA stunt clinics to refine the key techniques that will be crucial for our competition season. In addition, we've been gearing up for game days, learning new halftime routines, and perfecting our pyramid formations.
The highlight of our journey is preparing for the 2025 NCA Nationals, which will mark a historic moment for Bucknell Cheerleading as we compete in the Collegiate Intermediate Division for the first time. This new category allows us to showcase the advanced stunting and tumbling skills we've been perfecting throughout the season, and we're excited for the chance to take the Nationals floor in April 2025.
Looking beyond this season, I've also been brainstorming ideas to help grow the cheerleading program. With 2025-2026 tryouts approaching, I aim to expand the team and create more opportunities for students to participate in a sport they love while showcasing their school spirit by supporting our athletic teams.
That vision will also require additional funding, and I hope you will all consider supporting the team if you have not already done so this year. Our team members have worked incredibly hard at perfecting their skills and preparing themselves to be their best on game day. If you have been to a Bucknell event and had the opportunity to witness the team, I hope you are proud of what you have seen. In addition, our mascot program through Service 1st Federal Credit Union continues to provide opportunities for several students to serve as "Bucky" while being compensated at the same time.Â
My first year with the team has been an exciting and rewarding season so far, and we're looking forward to what the future holds. Happy holidays to all, and here's to a successful season ahead!
