Bison Nation,
The new year is bringing excitement back to campus and I’m excited to share all of the news with you! The Bucknell Cheerleaders returned to campus in early January to start preparing for our Patriot League basketball games at home. A pillar of our program is creating a game atmosphere in Sojika that’s unforgettable!
Over the next few months, the team will be preparing for our Nationals debut. The program is bringing in a top choreographer to create the routine, the athletes are practicing four days a week, and the energy couldn’t be better. A first for Bucknell Cheerleading, the National Cheerleading Association competition is hosted in Daytona Beach, Florida, in April. To get a look into how the team is feeling I asked senior captain, Ally Riuli, what she thinks is the most important part of preparing for nationals:
“The team is excited. We’ve all been asking for and wanting this since my freshman year, and seeing it come to life is crazy. Our team is small and close-knit, and we support each other every single practice and game to prepare. I think the most important thing about preparing is staying positive. During preseason we wrote on poster board some things that we were nervous about or scared about as a team, and then we tore it up. We’re ready to go into every practice with a positive attitude.”
The journey to nationals is exciting, but it also comes with a large cost to the team. We’re looking for your support on One Herd One Day specifically to offset the $25,000 price tag of NCA nationals. The cost covers the competition's meals, housing, flights, registration, and choreography. Look for emails coming to your inbox about One Herd One Day, happening on March 26th, and thank you for any support that you can give!
