Update from Head Cheerleading Coach Ashley Frankel -- November 2023

Hello Bison Nation!
Â
First, I want to thank everyone for coming out to events and games this fall. When we see our families, alumni, and fans in the stands, it makes cheering on the Bison that much more fun. So far this semester, we have cheered for all home football games and have attended events on and off campus, such as Lewisburg's National Night Out event, the women's basketball team's Breakfast with the Bison, the women's soccer Patriot League semifinal, and Basketball Madness. We also hosted a trick-or-treat event at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium before the Lehigh game. The events have allowed us to connect with you and the campus community in ways we haven't in the past.
Â
As many of you know, in August, the team attended camp with the National Cheerleading Association (NCA). The team spent three days learning skills, drills, and safety in stunting and then performed an evaluation piece. Our evaluation scored high enough to earn a Bronze Bid to the NCA Collegiate Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida, this coming April. The bid to a nationals competition is the first in program history, and the athletes couldn't be more excited about the opportunity to represent Bucknell on the infamous "bandshell." This is a tremendous opportunity for our program, but one that comes at a cost. Our Bronze Bid helps defray some entry costs, but we will still need to fundraise for travel, lodging, meals, etc., for our student-athletes on the squad. If you are interested in helping us reach our goal of $20,000, don't hesitate to contact Todd Newcomb, director of the Bison Club, at tnewcomb@bucknell.edu or 570-577-1771.  Â
Â
Over the next few months, our team will be practicing for competition as well as cheering on our Bison athletics programs at their events. The team is ready for the challenge of adding competition to their schedule, and we hope to garner your support. Whether it's coming to say "hello" and give us your best wishes at games and events or through your donation to the program, we couldn't make it through the season without you!
Â
Thank you for your continued support; let's RALLY THE HERD together!
Â
‘ray Bucknell!
