Bucknell University Athletics
Update from Head Wrestling Coach Dan Wirnsberger -- February 2024

Dear Bucknell Wrestling Faithful,
Â
We have had a very busy few weeks and our team is competing well. We have won six out of our last seven dual meets with a young lineup. The future is bright and the future is now. The team just came off a weekend where we lost a hard-fought match to Army 18-15. We split the 10 matches but lost the bonus point battle. The character of our team showed itself the very next day with a significant bounce-back win versus a good Drexel team. We won seven out of the 10 contested matches and now we shift our focus to another important EIWA weekend on the road at Navy and Columbia. Â
Â
Kurt Phipps continues to lead the way as he is on a 17-match win streak. He has not lost a match since November. This is no surprise as Kurt continues to live a consistent lifestyle away from the athletic arena. Â
Â
Below is some important information as we move closer to March!
Â
EIWA Championships
We are looking forward to hosting this year's EIWA's in Sojka Pavilion. It's not too late to reserve your tickets for March 8-9.
Â
EIWA Championship Sponsorship
Please consider supporting our program with an EIWA Championship sponsorship. We are currently seeking silver, bronze, and weight-class sponsorships. Please click here to see the available sponsorship opportunities.
Â
Our wrestlers continue to give it their all and it's been a great group of guys to coach. Thank you to everyone who has supported our program by attending our competitions and by lending us support financially this season.
Â
In closing, we have a significant 24-hour period approaching for our program. The annual One Herd One Day 24-Hour Giving Challenge will be on March 26-27 from 10:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. Our program has historically been very competitive with the sports across the athletic department during the challenge. If you have not made a gift to our Grappler Club, or would like to help us win the challenge with another gift, please consider supporting these athletes in the One Herd One Day event. Our student-athletes and coaches are so proud to represent such a strong group of alumni and fans, and I hope we can all come together in March to turn in a huge day for the wrestling program.
And now please enjoy this video update featuring freshman Noah Mulvaney!
Â
That's all for now...Go Bison! Â
