Update from Head Wrestling Coach Dan Wirnsberger -- December 2023

Greetings from Bison Country,

I hope this note finds you well. It's been a competitive and challenging first month of the season for our team. We have gained valuable experience and learned a lot as we move into December. Starting the year against two highly ranked programs, Oklahoma State and Minnesota, propelled us to a great performance at the Navy Classic highlighted by our team finishing in fourth place, with eight wrestlers placing, including an individual champion in Kurt Phipps. See the Navy Classic recap here.Â

Our team is back in Lewisburg preparing for the end of the semester with final exams quickly approaching. We are looking for our guys to finish the academic semester as strong as possible as we continue to prepare for our December competitions highlighted by our trip to Madison, Wisconsin on December 3 and two home duals against Buffalo and Bloomsburg on December 17. Â
Â
Following the conclusion of our tri-meet, our guys will take some time to recover and spend the holidays with their families. Shortly after Christmas, they will come back to campus in order to prepare for the prestigious Southern Scuffle hosted by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on January 1-2. Â

It will be important for us to stay healthy as we continue to develop individually as well as a team. I hope to see many of you at our home matches or on the road! Check out our schedule here.
