TOWSON, Md. – Towson scored three first-half goals on the way to a 3-1 win over Bucknell in a non-league women's soccer matchup on Sunday at Tiger Field. Louisa Thomson scored early in the second half, but it wasn't enough as the Bison dropped their fourth straight to fall to 3-5 on the season.

Towson (2-2-2) jumped in front just over 14 minutes into the game when Meron Koro was first to a rebound after a Sarah McFarland save, and she slotted it into an empty net. Koro just missed a second goal a few minutes later, and then substitute Jayla Caldwell scored a pair of goals five minutes apart to stretch Towson's lead to 3-0 at the half.

Both of Caldwell's goals came on corner kicks. The first was a clean header, and the second came when a Bucknell clearance came to her feet, and she lobbed a shot over McFarland into the far side netting.

Gaby Parker had Bucknell's best chance in the first half. On the 20-minute mark, she split two defenders to gain space in the box, but Towson keeper Keagan Williams cut down the angle and made the save.

Bucknell was much brighter in the second half, outshooting Towson 10-9. Bella Connell made a good run into the right side of the area before running out of room, and then the Bison found a goal off a set piece in the 58th minute.

Thomsen headed Clare Nemsick's service off the inside of the left post and just across the goal line. It was Thomsen's first goal of the season, while Nemsick picked up her second assist.

Towson finished with a 21-16 shot advantage and led 8-4 in corner kicks. McFarland made four first-half saves, and then Reese Dolan stopped two shots in 45 shutout minutes. Williams tallied five saves for Towson.

Bucknell wraps up non-conference play with a trip to Villanova on Thursday at 4 p.m. That will be followed by the Patriot League opener at home against Lehigh on Sept. 19.
