Women’s Golf Sprints to Day 1 Lead at Golf Galaxy Collegiate

RESULTS
SEWICKLEY, Pa. – With all five players in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard, the Bucknell women's golf team jumped out to a 12-shot lead after 36 holes of the Golf Galaxy Collegiate, hosted by Duquesne at Sewickley Heights Golf Club. Sophia Bardunias had the round of the day with a second-round 74, and she is the low Bison in a tie for fourth place with a 7-over-par 151.
Bucknell posted rounds of 305 and 304 on the par-72 track. Trailing Duquesne by two shots after the morning round, the Bison outscored the Dukes 304-318 in the afternoon. Bucknell will have a 12-shot cushion (609-621) going into the third and final round, with Marshall well back in third place at 642.
Bardunias got out to a terrific start with back-to-back birdies on holes 2 and 3 in the opening round. She was still 2-under through six holes but gave a few back later in the round and finished with a 77. Bardunias shook off that tough finish, once again jumping out to a 2-under start with birdies at 3 and 5. This time she held strong on the inward nine with a 1-over 37 on the way to a 74, which was tied for the low round in the field.
Bardunias has four of her teammates right on her heels. Joelle Johnson (77-75) is one shot behind her in sixth place, Nicole Yun (75-79) is tied for seventh, Rayne Ripperger (76-79) is in ninth place, and Mattea Issa (80-76) is in 10th. Indie Katherine Vice (77-83) is tied for 17th.
Johnson's second round was highlighted by a run of three straight birdies on holes 2-3-4. Bucknell's quintet combined for 18 birdies on a tough scoring day in the Pittsburgh area.
Duquesne's Sasha Petrochko has the individual lead at 5-over 149 (74-75). Teammate Abby Slankster (74-76) and Marshall's Madison Borders (76-74) are both one back, with Niagara's Isabella Ok (76-75) tied for fourth along with Bardunias.
The third and final round gets going on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
