Women's Golf Claims Back-to-Back Championships with Win at Golf Galaxy Collegiate

SEWICKLEY, Pa. – The Bucknell women's golf team claimed its second consecutive championship by winning the Golf Galaxy Collegiate, hosted by Duquesne, at the par-72 Sewickley Heights Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon. Joelle Johnson was the runner-up in the tournament at 8-over-par after her individual championship last time out.
The Bison won back-to-back tournaments for the second time in program history, and it is the second straight year the Bison have accomplished this feat. At the start of last season, the Bison had just 10 team championships dating back to 1998. Since the fall of 2025, the Bison have won six team championships.
Johnson's finish was the third runner-up finish in the sophomore's young career after coming off an individual championship two weeks ago at the Bucknell Invitational. She has four career top-two finishes.
Bucknell fired a 908 for the 54-hole tournament, and all six Bison finished in the top-12 in the individual standings. The Bison bested the field by 18 strokes, finishing ahead of the hosts. Duquesne's Sasha Petrochko claimed the individual title with a 3-over-par finish.
Johnson wrapped up the tournament with an even-par 72. She rolled through the final day at 2-under-par for most of the round until a double-bogey on the final hole put her at even-par. Johnson was two-under on the front nine and made eight birdies in the tournament.
Sophia Bardunias was right behind Johnson at 9-over-par for the tournament. The junior carded a 74 in the final round with four birdies to shoot 2-over-par on the day. Nicole Yun turned in a 77 in her final round to finish alone in seventh place at 15-over-par. The senior carded five birdies including three on Tuesday.
Senior Katherine Vice finished in a tie for eighth playing as an individual. Vice finished her round with an even-par 72 with three birdies on day three, and she finished the tournament with 12 birdies.
Mattea Issa also tied for eighth with Vice at 16-over-par. The freshman carded 76s in her final two rounds that included two birdies in each of those rounds.
Freshman Rayne Ripperger carded a 76-79-80 for her second collegiate tournament in Orange and Blue. She finished 12th at 19-over-par.
Bucknell is back in action on Monday, October 5 for the Quinnipiac Classic for a 54-hole tournament at The Farms Country Club.
