Women's Tennis Wins Seven Doubles Matches on Day One of West Point Tournament

WEST POINT, N.Y. — Bucknell women's tennis won seven of 11 doubles matches on Day One of the West Point Tournament. The Bison fell in all seven singles matches on the day.
Bucknell opened the West Point Tournament with doubles matches against Sacred Heart and Army Black as well as both singles and doubles play against Quinnipiac.
In their doubles play against Sacred Heart, the Bison went 3-1. Jaycie Mair and Summer Even-Esh defeated Bartyzel and Zuba 6-0, Cameron King and Kate Purpura defeated James and Agbulos 7-5 and Mariana Shulman and Jordan Lee defeated Gochna and Furrows 6-3. Tori Allen and Natalie Devraj fell in No. 2 doubles to Gonzalez and Tuffs 6-2.
Against Army Black, Bucknell went 1-3 in doubles play. Riley Jennings and Even-Esh were the lone Bison winners against the Black Knights defeating Yan and Smith 7-6(5).
Bucknell lost all seven of its singles matches against Quinnipiac, but were able to go 3-0 against the Bobcats in doubles play. Mair and King defeated Baker and Jones 6-1, Purpura and Even-Esh defeated Schulson and Sicignano 7-5 and Shulman and Isabella Massis defeated Mahajan and Shannkar 7-5.
The Bison will continue to play in the West Point Tournament tomorrow, Saturday, Sep. 26.
