Last Time Out for the Bison
- Freshman Chayse Snyder leveled the match with his first career goal in the 80th minute, but Sean Keane answered only 50 seconds later to send No. 20 Hofstra to a 2-1 win over Bucknell in the men's soccer season opener on Thursday night at Emmitt Field at Holmes Stadium.
- A young Bison squad missing several key players due to injury held its own against a top-20 opponent, but the Pride avenged a home loss to Bucknell in last year's opener.
- Bucknell maintained possession for most of the first 15 minutes of the match until Hofstra began to flip the field later in the first half. The Bison survived a replay review for a possible penalty in the 17th minute, and then five minutes later first-time starter Thomas Yerbury made a tough diving save to deny Carlman.
- The Pride got on the board through Carlman in the 38th minute. Bucknell turned it over playing out of the back, and David Citron won possession and fed an open Carlman in the center of the area.
- Snyder gave the Bison a strong 67-minute shift off the bench in his collegiate debut, and he nearly opened his account in the 70th minute when his rip from the left flank stuck the right post. The rebound came all the way out to Krumov at the 18, and his follow-up attempt was chested off the goal line by defender Joel Bona.
- Snyder found his well-deserved goal on a corner kick sequence in the 80th minute. Krumov's delivery got past everyone, and Lewisburg native Viktor Permyashkin chased down the loose ball along the end line. Permyashkin served it back into the center of the area, where Snyder headed it inside the right post.
- Not long after the restart, Jack Benham served a ball into the box, where Keane squeezed a near-post header past Yerbury.
- Bucknell again pushed for the equalizer and got a good look from Nate Coughlin from the right wing along with two free kicks in the attacking third. The Bison won a corner kick in the last 10 seconds, but Hofstra dealt with the rushed service as time expired.
- Hofstra finished with a 13-10 shot advantage, and both goalkeepers made four saves.
