LEWISBURG, Pa. – Freshman Brady Hoar was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week and the Bison of the Week after an excellent start on the mound led the Bison to a game three win to take the series over Navy.
This is the second consecutive week that Hoar has been named PL Rookie of the Week and the first time being named Bison of the Week. Hoar also won the Patriot League Pitcher of the Week honor earlier this season.
Hoar allowed no runs on two hits through seven innings as the Bison got out to a 3-0 lead in the rubber match against Navy on Sunday. The Mids chased Hoar in the eighth with two hits, and a run came home to score as Jake Schultz got out of the jam to preserve the lead.
Hoar struck out two batters in the game but forced 10 ground outs and seven fly outs. The only free base he surrendered was a hit batter.
Hoar has a 4.25 ERA in six starts for the Bison. He has four starts of at least five innings or more and has posted three quality starts. The freshman has allowed just one earned run and seven hits over his last two starts, totaling 13.0 innings.
The Bison have two midweek road contests at Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday afternoon and Penn State on Wednesday evening. The Bison return to Depew Field at Marren Park for a three-game series against Lehigh beginning on Friday at 3 p.m.
