Wade Shomper Receives Bison of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Wade Shomper reaffirmed his status as one of the finest throwers in program history by resetting his school record in the shot put at the Penn Classic last Friday. The accomplishment earned Shomper his second career Bison of the Week award.Â
"Happy for Wade earning Bison of the Week," said throws coach Ryan Protzman. "He's a great representative of his teammates, our track & field program, and the university. He's dialing in at the right time as we approach the Patriot League Indoor Championships."
Shomper finished second in a crowded and talented field at the Penn Classic. His record-breaking throw of 58-7.25 arrived during his second attempt and easily surpassed his previously best of 57-8.25. The senior was on point. All four of his countable tosses cleared 53 feet and three of them flew past 56. His new mark places him first in the Patriot League, sixth in the Mid-Atlantic Region, and 65th nationally.Â
Shomper owns both the indoor and outdoor shot put records. In 2025, he finished second in the event at the Patriot League Indoor Championships and first at the Outdoor Championships.Â
Bucknell returns to action on Feb. 20 at the annual Bison Tuneup.Â
