Men's Water Polo Welcomes George Washington & #15 Navy for Weekend Bouts

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Bucknell men's water polo (8-6, 3-1 MAWPC) rides a five-game winning streak and looks to notch two more conference victories into its belt this weekend. The Bison host conference foes, George Washington (Oct. 3) and No. 15 Navy (Oct. 4), for two pivotal games. Both games will be streamed on YouTube.Â

The Inside "Herd" on the Bison
- Bucknell went 2-0 last weekend in conference action. The Bison blitzed Mercyhurst 20-9 and buried Route 15 Rival Mount St. Mary's 27-14 in an aquatic doubleheader.Â
- The 27 goals scored against the Mount represented the largest amount for Bucknell since tallying 34 in 1994 versus Johns Hopkins.Â
- Jack Dillane received Bison of the Week for his seven goal performance. He also draw numerous exclusions and penalties to power Bucknell's offense.Â
- The Orange & Blue were picked third in the MAWPC Preseason Poll.Â
- Tyler Hedblad leads the Bison with 37 goals, followed by Jack Dillane with 35, Pier Giorgio Cicchetti has tallied 27, and Sean Tunnicliff has scored 23 times.Â
- Goalkeeper David Dumitru has recorded 106 saves.Â
- Cicchetti leads the team in assists (36) and points (90).  Â
- George Washington is 9-5 overall and has not yet played a conference game. The Revolutionaries began MAWPC action this weekend at Bucknell and Mercyhurst. GW is 0-3 against ranked Division I foes but has defeated two ranked Division III opponents. Konstantinos Kapragkos leads George Washington with 49 goals.Â
- Navy sits 10-2 overall and 1-0 in MAWPC play. The conference win came in a 15-14 affair over Mount St. Mary's. The Midshipmen have tested themselves against ranked foes, netting a 3-2 record with wins over No. 11 Loyola Marymount, No. 17 Santa Clara, and No. 18 Harvard. The Mids lost by a single goal to No. 8 UC Irvine and No. 12 Princeton. Quinn Bartlett paces Navy with 28 goals.Â
