LEWISBURG, Pa. — John Ohnegian has been named to the FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team and is one of eight Bison named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team on Tuesday. Ohnegian, a senior offensive lineman, was joined on the CSC squad by junior offensive lineman Mark Mulhern, senior defensive lineman Daniel Sierk, junior defensive lineman Will Caneer, junior wide receivers TJ Cadden and Sam Milligan, sophomore running back Michael Cadden and junior cornerback Takai Whitmore.
Ohnegian was one of 57 student-athletes named to the 28th Annual FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team on Tuesday. In order to be eligible for the honor football players must be from a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) institution. Each of the nominees were required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) in undergraduate or graduate study and have been a starter or key player with legitimate athletics credentials and have played in at least 50 percent of the games. They also must have reached their second year of athletics and academic standing at the nominated institution and have completed a minimum of one full academic year at the nominated institution. The Patriot League as a whole led the FCS in honorees with ten total.
From the all-star team, 12 finalists including Ohnegian, were selected for the 25th Annual ADA $5,000 Postgraduate Scholarship. From the 12 finalists, two will receive scholarships.
A few of the eight Bison named to the CSC Academic All-District Team will move on to the national Academic All-America ballot. To be considered for Academic All-America honors, each student-athlete had to have a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average. The student-athletes must have competed in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games. As placekickers, punters, and special teams players are not official starting positions, nominees in these three positions must play in at least 90 percent of their team's games to be eligible for Academic All-District honors.
Two of Bucknell's eight All-District honorees also earned All-Patriot League honors this season. Milligan made the All-Patriot League First Team as a special teams non-specialist and was named to the second team as a wide receiver. Ohnegian was named an AllPatriot League Second Team Offensive Lineman. The duo, along with TJ Cadden, also earned Academic All-Patriot League in 2025.
