9/2/2025 10:00:00 PM | Men's Soccer
FAIRFAX, Va. – Zane Domsohn and Jack Lucas scored as the Bucknell men's soccer team erased a two-goal deficit for the second consecutive match, but it ended in a heart breaker as No. 22 George Mason scored in the 90th minute to win the match 3-2 at George Mason Stadium on Tuesday night.
For the fourth consecutive game to start the season, Bucknell (2-1-1) made a come-from-behind effort after trailing in the match. Senior forward Zane Domsohn and junior wing back Jack Lucas scored 13 minutes apart in the second half to level the match 2-2 before the Patriots stunned the Bison on a last-minute goal.
After a beautiful sequence of passes starting from the back line, senior midfielder Cohen Weaver slipped a ball through the defensive line to Domsohn who calmly finished the opportunity past a diving goalkeeper to halve the deficit 2-1 in the 63rd minute.
Just 13 minutes later, the Bison earned a free kick on the wing. Junior midfielder David Krumov played a short pass to Lucas at the top of the box, and Lucas fired his shot over the mass of players in the box into the back of the net to equalize the match 2-2.
George Mason (2-1) had one final opportunity as the Patriots pressed into the attacking third. James Eliuda fired a low shot from just outside of the box through several defenders. Senior goalkeeper Freddie Lapworth made a brilliant save, but the ball deflected back to a charging Brent Fields who put the match away with an easy finish.
Martim Sereno opened the scoring in the 29th minute for the Patriots to take the advantage. Sereno received a pass with space in the box, and fired a curling effort to the back post. George Mason nearly doubled the lead through Eliuda as the forward slipped beyond the back line. Lapworth left his line to force a chip shot and senior defender raced back to clear the shot away from goal to keep it 1-0 at the break.
George Mason then doubled the lead just seven minutes into the second half. A great pass from Sergio Fernandez Gonzalez, who assisted the opener, found Jacobo Sanfeliu in space. Sanfeliu took a couple touches toward goal and finished his shot into the bottom corner to make it 2-0.
Lapworth came up with five saves in the match, including a big diving stop in the 87th minute to keep the Patriots from taking the lead at the time. Lapworth also made two big stops on a breakaway in the first half, coming out of his box to take the attacker off the dribble before getting back to his box to make another save.
George Mason out-shot Bucknell 19-13, but both sides finished with seven shots on target. Patriots' goalkeeper Juame Salvado made five saves in the match.
Domsohn's goal was his second of the season and the 10th goal of his career. Lucas has been on the score sheet in all four of Bucknell's matches, scoring his third goal of the season. All three of Lucas' goals have come from outside the box, and three of his goal involvements have been equalizers. Lucas leads the Bison with seven points through the first four games. The Bison have also scored in the final 15 minutes of all four matches thus far.
