LEWISBURG, Pa. – The 2025 Bucknell football season is fast approaching and officially kicks off on Saturday, Aug. 30 with an exciting game at Air Force. The football program is hosting two events leading up to their trip to Colorado as they gear up for the season, Family Fun Fest and the first football luncheon.
Family Fun Fest will be taking place on Saturday, Aug. 23 from 3:30-5 p.m. at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. Kids in 8th grade and under are invited to take part in football-related games and activities with the Bison football team. All kids attending the event will get a coupon for free popcorn from the concession stand and will also receive an autographed photo from the team.
After Family Fun Fest concludes, there will be an exclusive Junior Bison Club post-event meal with Bucky the Bison and select Bucknell football players at 5 p.m. If you are not a member of the junior Bison Club, you can sign up in order to attend exclusive events like this one.
Bucknell football will be hosting its first luncheon at the Bull Run on Monday, Aug. 25 at noon. There are currently two Bucknell Football luncheons scheduled for the 2025 season at the Bull Run Tap House in downtown Lewisburg. The second will be on Monday, Oct. 6 at noon. Tickets for the football luncheons cost $20 for the general public and $15 for Gridiron Club or Bison Club members. You can pay using cash or check upon arrival at the Bull Run.
Other football events to keep in mind as we look ahead into the season are alumni weekend and senior night. Football Alumni Weekend is taking place the weekend of September 12-13. There will be an alumni reception at Brendan's Towne Tavern Shanty for those coming into town on Friday. Alumni are welcome to attend the Gridiron Club tailgate on Saturday prior to the VMI game. The tailgate is located inside the Pascucci Team Center and begins at 2:00 p.m. Alumni will also have exclusive sideline access during the game, and will be recognized as a group on the field at halftime. The cost for the weekend is $100 per person and includes the Friday night reception, Gridiron Club Tailgate, a game ticket and a Bucknell Football baseball cap. You can register by contacting Todd Newcomb at tnewcomb@bucknell.edu.
In a change from past years, the Bucknell Football program will celebrate its seniors earlier in the home schedule instead of prior to the final game in November. Senior Night will be held on Saturday, September 27 prior to the game against St. Francis at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
