
Seven Bison Earn EIWA Academic Achievement Award

Lewisburg, Pa. — Seven Bucknell wrestlers have been honored with EIWA All-Academic Awards for the 2024-25 season. Bucknell's recipients are Chris Nucifora, Kurt Phipps, Dylan Chappell, Braden Bower, Noah Mulvaney, Dillon Bechtold and Logan Shephard.
In order to qualify for the EIWA Academic Achievement Award, the wrestlers must either achieve a 3.2 GPA and participate in the EIWA Tournament or achieve a 3.0 GPA and represent the EIWA and their institution at the NCAA Championships.
Our first recipient, freshman Chris Nucifora, earned this achievement wrestling at 125 lbs at the EIWA Tournament. Nucifora is undeclared in the College of Arts and Sciences.
At 133 lbs, fifth-year Kurt Phipps was one of the recipients of the EIWA Academic Achievement Award. Phipps won the EIWA title at 133 lbs and represented the Bison at NCAA's, finished with a 1-2 record in the tournament with a win over #24 Kyle Burwick (North Dakota State) by a 6-5 decision. Phipps was named an NCAA Division I Scholar All-American as he garnered a 3.74 GPA with majors in Civil Engineering and Management for Engineers.
Senior Dylan Chappell was one of the recipients at 141 lbs. Chappell was the EIWA runner-up at 141 lbs and represented Bucknell at the NCAA Championships where he earned three wins including a pin over #19 Mosha Schwartz (Oklahoma). The senior was named a NCAA Division I Men's Scholar All-American and is a Chemical Engineering and Management for Engineers major.
At 149 lbs, junior Braden Bower was one of the recipients of the EIWA Academic Achievement Award. Bower earned fifth place at 149 lbs at the EIWA Championships where he earned four wins. The junior is a biology major in the College of Arts & Sciences.
Sophomore Noah Mulvaney was one of the recipients at 165 lbs. Mulvaney was the EIWA runner-up at 165 lbs and represented the Bison at NCAA's. The sophomore was named a NCAA Division I Scholar All-American and is a finance Major in the College of Management.
At 197 lbs, Dillon Bechtold was named a recipient of the EIWA Academic Achievement Award. The freshman was the runner-up at the EIW Championships at 197 lbs and represented the Bison at NCAA's going 2-2 and making it to the third round of the consolation bracket. He was named a NCAA Division I Scholar All-American as an undeclared management major in the College of Management with a cumulative 3.81 GPA.
The final Bucknell recipient, Logan Shephard, wrestled at 285 lbs and earned fifth place at the EIWA Tournament, racking up four wins. The junior is a biology major in the College of Arts & Sciences.
The total number of student athletes across the EIWA receiving this honor represents nearly 50% of the entire field of wrestlers at the 2025 EIWA Championships.
