Bucknell at a Glance
- Bucknell continues an eight-game home stand with a big three-game series with second-place Holy Cross at Depew field this weekend.
- After dropping two games to Lafayette on Sunday and Game 1 to Lehigh on Monday, the Bison bounced back with a huge comeback win in Game 2 on senior Michael Trommer's walk-off double.
- Bucknell, Lafayette and Lehigh all entered weekend play with a 3-5 PL record. The Bison went 1-3 on the weekend, losing three one-run ballgames before its comeback win against Lehigh snapped a five-game losing skid. Bucknell sits in sixth place in the PL with a 4-8 record, one game behind Lehigh. Navy leads the PL with a 9-5 record and 1.5 games ahead of a 7-5 Holy Cross team. Army is in third with an 8-7 record and Lafayette sits in fourth at 6-6. Â
- After being held to three runs in its previous three games and trailing 5-0 into the sixth inning of Monday's nightcap against Lehigh, Bucknell's bats broke out in the late innings en route to its sixth comeback win of the season. The Bison got within one run after a four-run bottom of the sixth inning. BU then tied the game in the bottom of the eighth, and Trommer doubled in the ninth for Bucknell's first walk-off win of the season.
- Bucknell dropped its first two games on Sunday to Lafayette in extra innings 2-1 and 3-2, then dropped a pitcher's duel 1-0 to Lehigh in Game 1 on Monday. The Bison led in both games against Lafayette, but the Leopards came from behind to take both games. Lehigh scored the lone run of Game 1 in the top of the seventh inning.
- Senior Tyler O'Neill, freshman Everett Garber and senior Ben Magovern were outstanding on the mound, but BU never got the run support needed to come out on top in the first three games. O'Neill and Lafayette starter Joe Skapinetz gave the fans an epic showdown in Game 1 as both righties got through seven innings on the bump with 10 strikeouts apiece.
- Garber tossed a season-high five innings with a career-high six strikeouts in Game 2. Magovern got into yet another pitcher's duel in Game 1 at Lehigh, going six innings without allowing an earned run before the Mountain Hawks scored on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh.
- Freshman John Calabrese leads the Bison with a .388 average, and was last week's Patriot League Rookie of the Week and Bison of the Week honoree. Calabrese made his debut with a pinch-hit single against FAU and has become a mainstay in the BU lineup.
- In 19 games with 15 starts, Calabrese is slashing .388/.469/.538 — good for a 1.007 OPS. Calabrese is crushing right-handed pitchers with a .400 batting average and is 8-for-17 with runners in scoring position. The right fielder delivered a clutch two-out, two-run single to get the Bison within a run against Lehigh in Game 2.
- Senior Tyler Dunn extended his on-base streak to 24 games — all 24 games he has played in this season. The first baseman drew a walk in each game, and had a hit in three of the four games last weekend.
- Dunn leads the Patriot League with a 1.016 OPS and is slashing .338/.525/.509, all of which rank third or higher in the PL.
- Dunn is climbing several career program records this season. The four-year starter ranks 12th in games played (164), 10th in games started (158), 10th in at-bats (580), 16th in hits (159), 15th in RBIs (104), 5th in walks (86), 15th in hit-by-pitches (21), 20th in doubles (30), and eighth in sacrifice flies (9).
- Ryan Facinelli is third on the team with a .267 batting average as the designated hitter. Facinelli is slugging .410 and has a .405 on-base percentage. He has 10 extra-base hits, 18 RBIs and has drawn 20 walks. Facinelli currently has an 11-game on-base.
- Junior Michael Trommer leads the Bison with 31 hits and has a .263 batting average. Trommer went the other way on his double, one-hopping the left field wall for the first walk-off hit of his career. Trommer ranks sixth in the PL with eight doubles and ranks sixth with three home runs. Trommer leads the Bison and ranks second in the PL with 27 RBIs. Â
- Tyler O'Neill has a 3.51 ERA after making his eighth start this season. O'Neill sits third on Bucknell's all-time strikeouts list with 205 strikeouts, 23 behind second-place Connor Van Hoose '18.
- Hadley Maxwell has a 3.22 ERA out of the bullpen. The right-hander made two appearances last weekend, allowing just an earned run on three hits with three strikeouts.

- Through 31 games, the Bison have a .238 team batting average and a 7.91 team ERA. Opponents are batting .293 and have a 5.41 ERA against BU.
- The Bison are 2-2 against ACC foes. Bucknell won its single game against Pitt, and took Game 2 from Virginia Tech in its opening series.
- Against Pitt, seven Bison pitchers combined for a four-hit, 17-strikeout effort. The 17 strikeouts were four shy of the team record of 21, set in 1956 against Franklin & Marshall (all by Don Richards) and in 1989 against Wilkes.
- Head coach Scott Heather is in his 13th season at the helm, passing Bill Lane (1946-57) as the third-longest tenured coach in program history. Heather's 235 career wins are second-most in team history, trailing only Hall-of-Famer Gene Depew (591).
- Bucknell and Holy Cross met for a two-game series in Worcester, Mass. on March 28. The Bison took both games, staging a ninth inning comeback win in Game 1 before a 20-8 demolition in Game 2 where the Bison set a program record with 20 walks and tied its program record with seven hit-batters. Â
- Holy Cross quickly bounced back from the doubleheader sweep, shutting out a lead-leaguing Navy 9-0 and 10-0 just two days later. The Crusaders then split its most recent series with the defending PL champions, Army.
- Holy Cross picked up notable wins over No. 22 Auburn and split a four-game series with a VMI squad that is now 21-13. The Crusaders took a 4-2 win over Auburn in its second game of the season, dropping the other two games 4-1 and 14-6.
- Through 34 games, the Crusaders ranks second in the PL with a .269 batting average and have scored 6.4 runs per game. Holy Cross leads the PL in runs (217), extra-base hits (89), and on-base percentage (.390). The Crusaders rank second with 296 hits.
