About the EIWA Championships
• Lehigh is set to host the 121st Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association Championships at Stabler Arena in Bethlehem, Pa., on Friday, March 7 and Saturday, March 8.Â
• The field includes 12 teams, and this historic edition of the EIWA Championships will be the first time the Ivy League institutions will not be present, since the conference has decided to sponsor wrestling. Among the 12 teams are four programs that were ranked in the final National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division I Men's Mid-Major Wrestling Coaches Poll: No. 5 Army West Point, No. 6 Navy, No. 7 Lehigh and No. 14 Drexel. Bucknell is also receiving votes in the poll with five.Â
• In 2024, Cornell won the EIWA title for a straight third year and for the 28th time in history. Lehigh came in second place. With Cornell out of the EIWA, this time around along with the other Ivies, there is the opportunity for a new champion.
• Only three current EIWA members have captured the team title: Lehigh (38), Navy (13) and Army West Point (1). The Mountain Hawks and Cornell have combined to win the last 23 titles.
• The EIWA, founded in 1905, is the nation's oldest and largest wrestling conference.
Bucknell's EIWA Championships History
• Bucknell joined the EIWA in 1999-2000 and has wrestled at the league's championships 21 times.
• The Bison have finished as high as third in the team standings. They tied Penn for that spot in 2009 and claimed sole possession in 2015 and 2016.
• Four Bison, Andy Rendos (165, 2010), Kevin LeValley (149, 2011), Joe Stolfi (285, 2014) and Zach Hartman (165, 2021), have captured EIWA championship titles. Hartman and LeValley earned the EIWA Coaches' Trophy as the EIWA Championships' Outstanding Wrestler.
• Dorian Crosby (285) became the 11th Bison to finish as a runner-up at the EIWA Championships in 2024. In 2023, Dylan Chappell (149) became the 10th Bison to finish as a runner-up at the EIWA Championships. He followed up that performance, earning runner-up in 2024 in the 141 lbs category. Stolfi (285, 2015 & 2016) and Hartman (165, 2019 & 2020) were two-time runners-up.
• Bucknell placed a wrestler on the podium at all 10 weight classes at the 2021 EIWA Championships, which only featured 10 schools due to the Ivy League and Centennial Conference's cancellation of all winter sports. Bucknell's next-highest placewinner total was eight during the 2010 championships.
• Since the wrestling team was reinstated ahead of the 2006-07 campaign, 46 Bison have combined to place on the EIWA podium 86 times.
NCAA Qualifiers from the EIWA Championships
• The EIWA will have 22 automatic qualifiers for the 2025 NCAA Championships. This is the lowest number of allotments for the conference in recent history due to the Ivy League separating from the EIWA.
• At the end of all conference tournaments, the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee will meet to select the remaining 43 at-large qualifiers.
• Since the Bucknell wrestling program was reinstated ahead of the 2006-07 season, thanks largely to a generous donation from Bill Graham '62, 23 different wrestlers have combined to earn 49 NCAA berths and five All-America certificates.
• Since the program was revived, five Bison have qualified for four NCAA Championships: David Marble (133, 2007-10), Andy Rendos (165, 2007-10), Joe Stolfi (285, 2013-16), current assistant coach Tyler Smith (141, 2015-18) and Zach Hartman (165, 2019-22).
