WASHINGTON, D.C.- Bucknell grabbed the 3-0 lead on Tuana Coskun's three-pointer, never trailed, and led for 39:46 minutes in a 77-46 handling of the American Eagles (1-28, 1-17 Patriot League). The victory, combined with a Holy Cross loss and a Navy win, placed the three teams into a fourth-place tie in the conference standings. Bucknell completed the regular season at 16-13 overall and 11-7 in Patriot League action.
Due to tiebreakers (Bucknell went 0-2 against Holy Cross and Navy), the Bison will serve as the sixth-seed and head to third-seeded Colgate on Monday night in the Patriot League Tournament quarterfinals. The Bison were projected to finish eighth in the preseason poll and greatly exceeded their proposed placement. The 11 conference wins are the most since the 2021-22 WNIT campaign, as are the 16 overall victories.
As she has done nearly every game this season, Ashley Sofilkanich led the Bison attack totaling 22 points in 27 minutes. The sophomore phenom gathered 11 rebounds for her tenth double-double in 2024-25. She added six blocks and distributed five assists.
Sophia Sabino tallied 14 points on 5 of 7 shooting. Coskun scored the game's first five points and ended up with ten on an efficient 4 of 6 from the field. Elana Weisman was the final Bison in double-digits scoring ten points in 20 minutes.
Reese Zemitis scored nine points on three treys. The freshman has 59 three-pointers this year, moving her into seventh place in Bucknell history for single-season campaigns.
Bucknell was efficient the entire game shooting 46.9% on 30 of 64 from the floor and held American to 28.3% (17 of 60). The Bison outrebounded the Eagles 42-39.
