
Women’s Tennis Wins Third Straight, 6-1 at Mercyhurst

ERIE, Pa. – The Bucknell women's tennis team won its third straight dual match to level its season record at 4-4 with a 6-1 verdict at Mercyhurst on Sunday. Whitney King led the charge with wins at No. 1 singles and doubles, and the Bison posted five straight-set singles wins on the day.
Bucknell began the day by claiming the doubles point with wins at 1 and 3. King and Abby Platt won 6-2 on Court 1, and after Mercyhurst drew level with a victory at No. 2, Caroline Marcus and Natalie Devraj finished off a 6-3 win over Kiersten Brown and Sara Bertolez Puente to give the Bison the 1-0 lead in the match.
The first four singles results off the board all went Bucknell's way. Tori Allen made quick work of Bertolez Puente 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4, and Mirra Manolov followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Andjela Mrvaljelic at No. 6. King clinched the dual victory with a 6-4, 6-2 defeat of Kayla Dean.
Anna Lajos at No. 3 and Jaycie Mair at No. 5 also won in straight sets, while Mercyhurst's lone point came from Daria Rogova at No. 2.
Next up for the Bison is a Spring Break trip to Bonita Springs, Fla., where their first match will be against Patriot League rival Boston University on March 10.
