Men’s Tennis Drops 5-2 Decision to Drexel

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Amar Tahirovic and Adam Stavrakas posted straight-set singles wins in the top two spots in the lineup, but Drexel pulled out some close matches in the bottom half and defeated the Bison 5-2 on Friday afternoon at the Central PA Tennis Center. Bucknell saw its four-match winning streak come to an end and fell to 5-2 on the season, while Drexel remained unbeaten at 3-0.
All three doubles matches finished with 7-5 scorelines. Tahirovic and Brendan McDonald defeated Alexander de Sousa and Roman Lafond at No. 1, but Drexel won at 2 and 3 to take the doubles point.
Stavrakas made quick work of Hussein El Tawil, winning 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Tahirovic followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win over de Sousa on Court 1. But Drexel won the other four singles matches. Willliam Burridge clinched it with a come-from-behind 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over McDonald at No. 3.
Oscar Bain Moreno de Vega also won his first set from Egor Kirakosov in a tiebreaker, but Kirakosov leveled the match 6-4 in the second set and then won a tiebreaker of his own in the third to finish the day.
