LEWISBURG, Pa.- The awards continue to pile up for Bucknell senior Kira Leclercq. One day after repeating as Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and notching her third consecutive First Team All-League spot, voters elected her to the Academic All-Patriot League for the second straight season, as announced Wednesday by the conference office.
Leclercq, an Environmental Geosciences major, carries an impressive 3.77 GPA. The scholar-athlete will present her research, "A 7,600-year record of temperature and vegetation change from the Lofoten Archipelago, Arctic Norway," this December at the AGU (American Geophysical Union) conference. Leclercq sampled and studied every other centimeter for items called alkali modes in carbon chains, allowing scientists to trace back surface temperatures.
The senior sparked Bucknell offensively and defensively, leading the team in defensive saves (6), goals (12), and points (30). Two of the mark moved into Bucknell single-season lists - defensive saves are fifth and points are tenth. All three stats are second in the Patriot League.Â
Bucknell, the three seed, faces second-seeded Lafayette Thursday in the Patriot League Tournament at 2 p.m. The contest will be streamed on ESPN+.Â
