LEWISBURG, Pa. — Bucknell football placed four athletes on the All-Patriot League teams after ending its 2025 campaign with an overall record of 5-7 and Patriot League record of 2-5. Two Bison earned both first team and second team honors, while two others joined them on the second team list. All four Bison on the All-Patriot League teams are offensive or special teams players.
Sam Milligan and Matt Schearer earned themselves spots on both the first and second Patriot League teams. Milligan, a junior, earned an All-Patriot League First Team Special Teams spot as the special teams non-specialist and a spot on the All-Patriot League Second Team as a wide receiver. Schearer, a senior, earned All-Patriot League First Team as a placekicker and second team as a punter.
For the second consecutive year, Milligan earned the first team special teams non-specialist nod and this season he added on a spot on the second team as a wide receiver. He had a standout season that kicked off by breaking Bucknell's single-game receiving touchdown record with four against VMI on Saturday, Sept. 13. He also found a spot at sixth in the record book in receiving yards in a single game with 192 against VMI. Milligan ended the season with 975 receiving yards which ranks third in the record book for single-season receiving yards and ranks top-10 in the FCS. He also led the Patriot League in receiving touchdowns with 10 which ranked top-10 in the FCS rankings. Milligan saw time on all aspects of the field including as a wide receiver, special teams non-specialist, quarterback, running back and defensive back. The receiver rushed the ball 18 times for 63 yards and one rushing touchdown. He also returned a blocked punt for a touchdown, went 2-for-2 in passing and recorded seven solo tackles throughout the season.
Schearer handled all placekicking and punting responsibilities for the Bison for the second consecutive year and earned the second team punter slot for the second consecutive season. He also earned the first-team placekicker spot for 2025. As a placekicker this season, Schearer made 13 field goals which ties for second in the Bison record book for field goals in a single season. Schearer's season-long field goal was a 49-yarder. The 13 field goals also gave him a career-total 34, which is second in the record book. On the punting side, he recorded 60 punts for 2,457 yards with a season-long 58 yarder. The senior had four touchbacks, 19 fair catches, 13 punts inside the 20 and seven punts of 50 or more yards. His punting average of 40.95 yards in 2025 earned a spot at 6th in the record book for single season average and he now ranks third in career punting average with an average of 40.2.
The other two Bison that earned All-Patriot League Second Team are senior offensive lineman John Ohnegian and fifth-year quarterback Ralph Rucker IV.
Ohnegian earned second-team honors for the second year in a row. The senior is a two-time captain for the Bison. He has started every game since his sophomore season on the offensive line and has been a major aspect of the Bison's offensive efforts for the last three years.
Fifth year quarterback Ralph Rucker IV had a great start to his final collegiate season before suffering a season-ending injury in the Bison's seventh game against Holy Cross. The former Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and Patriot League First-Team quarterback earned a second team nod for his performance in 2025 prior to the injury. Rucker went 117-of-170 for 1,568 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also carried the ball 62 times for 145 yards and three touchdowns. Rucker ended his collegiate career as Bucknell's single-season leader in touchdown passes (25), passing yards (2,826), completion percentage (.672), passing completions (244) and total offense (2,922).
