LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison (5-8, 3-2 EIWA) fell behind early to the Navy Midshipmen (5-3, 4-0 EIWA) and never caught up in a 27-9 defeat. The Orange & Blue could only win three matches against a potent and tough Navy fleet.

No. 29 Kurt Phipps (133) drew the Bison within 5-3 with his 2-0 decision over Brenden Ferretti but Navy unleashed a 16-0 run afterwards to firmly declare control of the match.

The Mids won the 125-pound bout when Nick Treaster achieved a tech fall over Chris Nucifora. No. 7 Josh Koderhandt easily handled No. 20 Dylan Chappell 15-1 in the 141-weight grouping. The major decision jumpstarted the Naval run. Braden Bower (149) narrowly 5-4 to Kaeman Smith. Cade Wirnsberger (157) also dropped a one-point defeat losing 2-1 to Jonathan Ley. No. 21 Noah Mulvaney fell in a 4-3 upset to unranked Dylan Elmore. Navy finished its run with No. 13 Danny Wask defeating No. 18 Myles Takata 4-2.

With the match practically over at 21-3 Navy, Bucknell generated some positive vibes with Logan Deacetis (184) winning a 6-2 decision over Daniel Williams. No. 24 Dillon Bechtold (197) made it two consecutive victories by defeating No. 32 Payton Thomas 4-2.

Bucknell almost finished the match with three straight triumphs until Nolan Springer was injured in the 285-pound clash resulting in an injury default and a final score 27-9.

The Bison welcome rival Lehigh to Davis Gym next Friday.
