Sofilkanich Tabbed Women's Basketball Player of the Week and Bison of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Ashley Sofilkanich recorded two double-doubles and set a career-high in points to carry the Bison to a 2-0 week and the sophomore sensation received Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Women's Basketball Player of the Week and the Bucknell athletic department Bison of the Week in recognition of her efforts.Â
"Our development as a team has been led by her individual progress," said head coach Trevor Woodruff. "I'm proud of her willingness to continue improving and excited to see what we can become as a team."
The New Jersey native was unstoppable in the Bison's wins over Lafayette (64-48) and American (65-50) as Bucknell improved to 3-1 in Patriot League play and moved above .500 at 8-7 overall. Against Lafayette, she posted 22 points and collected ten rebounds to power the Orange & Blue to its second consecutive victory. She reached new heights versus American by tallying a career-high 29 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field and an efficient 9-of-10 from the charity stripe. Sofilkanich grabbed ten rebounds for her tenth career double-double.Â
Her prowess was not limited to scoring. She distributed nine assists including a career-high six against Lafayette, blocked seven shots, and poached a steal.Â
She has now won three Player of the Week awards (12/2), (12/9), and (1/13) in 2024-25 - the highest yearly total by a Bison player since Kaitlyn Slagus received three during the 2018-29 season.Â
Sofilkanich leads the league in blocks (2.7) and double-doubles (6) and ranks second in field goal percentage (.493), points (19.3), and rebounds (8.6). Nationally, she ranks seventh in blocks, 31st in points, and 36th in double-doubles.Â
Bucknell hits the road for a 3-1 conference showdown with defending champion Holy Cross on Jan. 15.Â
