RESULTS
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Alex Crossing and Andy Dorsel accounted for four of Bucknell's eight event wins as the Bison men's swimming & diving team rolled to a 183-116 win over La Salle on Friday at Kirk Pool. Now 3-2 in dual meets this season, the Bison swept the top three places in six of their eight wins, and in four of the races won by the Explorers, Bucknell followed with 2-3-4 finishes.
La Salle (1-5) started the day with a close win in the 200-yard medley relay, but the Bison quickly surged in front for good with sweeps in the first two individual events, the 1,000 and 200 freestyles. The distance trio of Crossing, William Shoemaker, and Finn Franks set the tone with a 1-2-3 finish, with Crossing's winning margin coming by more than seven seconds. In the 200, it was Chris Kopac, Dante Buanadonna, and Damian Czartoryjski taking the top three spots.
The Explorers went 1-2 in the 100 backstroke but it was all Bison the rest of the way. James Lombardi and Will Hedges finished first and second in the 100 breaststroke, Braden Beagle won the 200 back, and Bucknell swept the top three in the 50 free (Justin DiSanto, Colin Smith, Finn Russell), 200 breast (Andy Dorsel, Hedges, Lombardi) 500 free (Crossing, Riley Twiss, Shoemaker), and 200 individual medley (Dorsel, Buonadonna, Ed Park).
Bucknell went 2-3-4 in the 200 fly (Dorsel, Twiss, Park), 100 free (DiSanto, Kopac, Smith), 100 fly (Russell, Czartoryjski, Shane Wynne), and 3-meter diving (Jack Krug, Connor Thurston, Jackson Vinarub). Thurston was also runner-up on the 1-meter board.
Bucknell and Army get going at 1 p.m. Saturday at Kinney Natatorium, with live coverage available on YouTube.
