LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's golf team closed out the Roseann Schwartz Invitational in record-setting fashion, compiling a 295 team score on Monday to move up to a third-place finish in a 13-team field. The 295 total was the best in school history in relation to par (+7), and it was the No. 2 aggregate in Bison annals behind only the 292 on a par-70 course at last year's Bucknell Invitational.

Freshman Sophia Bardunias once again led the way with her second straight even-par 72. Bardunias finished alone in fourth place, just two shots off the lead, and was one of only four players in the field of 82 to finish at even or better.

Fast starts were the order of the day for the Bison, who began on holes 5-7 in the final-round shotgun. By the time everyone had come through the turn, they were 5-under as a team. Bardunias birdied two of her first three holes, only to be outdone by fellow rookie Katrina von Behren, who started with three straight birdies at holes 7, 8, and 9 on the way to a 75.

Lila Smith birdied her first hole of the day on the way to a 74, and Nicole Yun also shot 74, shaking off a bogey on her second hole of the day (No. 6) to post 2-under over her next nine holes. Tara Thomas also had a solid day with a 78, but it was not needed as the Bison posted their all-time best score on an away course.

Bucknell began the day in fifth place after a 301 opening round on Sunday. With a 596 total, the Bison jumped ahead of Western Michigan and Indiana State in round two, finishing third behind only host Youngstown State (586) and Purdue Fort Wayne (595).

Bucknell's final-round 295 was the second-best in the field behind YSU's 294. Similar to the 18-hole records, the 596 was the second-best 36-hole total in team history and the best in relation to par (+20).

Youngstown State teammates Neeranuch Prajunpanich and Valentina Pena Anaya shared the individual title at 2-under 142. Kaitlin Kormuth of Cleveland State was third at 1-under 142, with Bardunias fourth at even-par 144.

Yun's 4-over 148 (74-74) put her alone in ninth place, and von Behren (79-75), Thomas (76-78), and Smith (80-74) all tied for 23rd at 154.

Bucknell returns to action on Oct. 7-8 at the Red Flash Invitational, hosted by Saint Francis at Sunnehanna Country Club.
