RESULTS
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Led by a 4-over-par 76 from Lila Smith, the Bucknell women's golf team posted a 317 team score and is tied for second place, just two strokes off the lead, after the first of two rounds of the Red Flash Invitational at Sunnehanna Country Club.
Stonehill leads the 10-team field after opening with a 315, but Bucknell, Fort Wayne, and Mount St. Mary's (319) are all within four shots of the lead. Monmouth rounds out the top five at 323.
Birdies were hard to find after overnight rain left the course wet and playing long, but Smith enjoyed a consistent day with 14 pars and four bogeys. Katrina von Behren (78) and Katherine Vice (81) both made two birdies, and Tara Thomas was Bucknell's fourth counter with an 82. Sophia Bardunias' 83 was discarded.
Smith and von Behren are both in the top-10 on the individual leaderboard. Helen Brodahl of Stonehill leads after carding a 1-over 73. Fort Wayne's Olivia Jang is second, and Smith and Makensy Knaub of Mount St. Mary's are tied for third, three shots off the pace. Von Behren is in a three-way tie for eighth place.
The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday.
