Women’s Golf Runner-Up at Red Flash Invitational

RESULTS
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – After placing third in its first three tournaments of the fall season, the Bucknell women's golf team progressed again this week with a runner-up finish at the Red Flash Invitational, hosted by Saint Francis at Sunnehanna Country Club. Sophomore Lila Smith and freshman Katrina von Behren both turned in T-7th finishes as the Bison finished just four shots behind champion Purdue Fort Wayne.
Bucknell followed up an opening-round 317 with a 310 on Tuesday, with the 627 total trailing only the Mastodons' 623. First-round leader Stonehill settled for third at 627, with Duquesne (641) and Saint Francis (644) rounding out the top five in a 10-team field.
Bucknell's two first-year players, von Behren and Sophia Bardunias, joined senior Tara Thomas with team-best 77s in the final round. Smith was the fourth counter with a 79. Von Behren led the group with four birdies on Tuesday, including two right out of the gates on holes 1 and 2.
Sasha Petrochko of Duquesne was the medalist after posting a 2-under 70 in the final round. Her 148 total was one better than Helen Brodahl of Stonehill.
The Bison have one more fall event on the schedule, the Lehigh Invitational at Saucon Valley Country Club on Oct. 19-20.
