Devraj Earns Spot in Singles Finals on Second Day of SJU Women's Tennis Invitational

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Bucknell women's tennis freshman Natalie Devraj went 2-0 in singles Saturday afternoon at the Saint Joseph's Invitational to earn a spot in Sunday's Black Flight finals. Three other Bison will be competing in the consolation finals, and two doubles teams won in the semifinals on day two.
Devraj earned a 7-5, 6-1 win over Ana Ocasio of Saint Joseph's in the quarterfinals before cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Fairfield's Meg Harding in the semis. She's scheduled to face Drexel's Rebecca Fiedler in the Sunday's Black Flight finals, which begin at 10:15 a.m. Sunday morning. Devraj also joined Caroline Marcus in an 8-3 win in doubles play to reach the Crimson Flight doubles finals. Also reaching the finals in that flight were Whitney King and Abby Platt, who won 6-3 over their opponents from Saint Joseph's.
Platt picked up one singles win in the Crimson Flight, defeating Fairfield's Maria Gell 6-3. 7-6 (2), but a loss in the quarterfinals send the junior to the consolation bracket. Also picking up a quarterfinal singles win was Mirra Manolov in the Black Flight, as she gutted out a 6-7 (3), 6-0, 10-8 win over Fairfield's Lucie Tuttle. Manolov also suffered a loss in the semifinal round and will join Whitney King, Cameron King and Jaycie Mair in a trip to consolation singles finals.
The final day of the Saint Joseph's Invitational begins with the final doubles rounds at 9 a.m.
