McDonald, Steindl Win on Day One of Carnegie Mellon Invitational

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Junior Brendan McDonald and freshman Felix Steindl collected singles wins on Friday as the Carnegie Mellon Invitational got underway in Pittsburgh.
McDonald was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Uvan Patel of Duquesne, and Steindl defeated Carnegie Mellon's Akshay Joshi, 6-4, 6-2. Both Bison improved to 4-0 in singles on the young season.
Freshmen Nelson Alapi and Shiv Singh were also in action on Friday, and both dropped straight-set matches to players from the host school.
Play resumes on Saturday morning, with two rounds of doubles and another round of singles on the schedule.
