Women's Cross Country Wins Two Weekly Awards

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison women's cross country team ran at the Lafayette Preview last Friday and dominated the proceedings by with a runner winning the race and having the high-placing freshman. The Patriot League office observed the effort by having the Bison sweep the women's awards. Caryn Rippey won Women's Runner of the Week and Anna Carruthers earned Women's Rookie of the Week.
Rippey blew away the competition at the Lafayette Preview with a time of 17:13.6. Her time was 36 seconds faster than the second-place finisher of fellow Bison Kailey Granger. Rippey has been on fire since the 2024 outdoor track & field season. She collected six wins during the campaign. Last year, she placed 38th at the 2023 Patriot League Outdoor Championships.Â
Carruthers has shot upon the scene as a freshman runner. Her time of 18:26.5 powered her 12th place finish and zoomed her ahead of all her fellow rookie runners. The new highest freshman was 17th in the standings. In both of her meets, she finished in the top 20. Carruthers opened the season at the Father Bede Invitational, finishing 18th.Â
The Bison return to competition this Friday at the Spiked Shoe Invitational this Friday. The meet will be held at Penn State University.Â
