Sample Competes in T47 100-Meter Dash Preliminaries at the Paris Paralympics

PARIS, France- Bucknell fans who woke up early Friday morning had the opportunity to watch Rayven Sample '24 run in the T47 100-meter dash at the Paralympic Games. Sample raced 11.56, finishing eighth in his heat and 14th overall but did not make the cut for the finals this afternoon.

Results

Sample was the only T45 runner in the group and performed well. Unfortunately, his fast start in the first attempt was negated due to a false start by another runner, robbing him of a quick first step. The second get-off was not as swift. However, Sample commented he was running the 100-meter dash to get a feel for the track, a sort of dry run, which will serve him well in the upcoming 400-meter dash, his best event.

Morocco's Aymane El Haddaou finished first, running an arena best 10.69. Cuba's Raciel Isidoria Gonzalez's personal best time of 10.74 unlocked second. Zimbabwe's Paidamoy Kudakwashe Chigwedere grabbed third, racing 10.78, for a personal best time.

Sample will next run on Sept 6. in the 400-meter dash. The event starts at 5:17 a.m. Eastern Time and will be streamed on Peacock.
