LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women's tennis junior Whitney King was one of six student-athletes to be selected to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, the league office announced Friday afternoon. It's King's second Patriot League postseason honor after she was named to the All-League First Team on Tuesday.
King has been named a First Team All-Patriot League and Academic All-Patriot League Team honoree two years in a row, becoming the third Bison to accomplish that feat joining Daniela Bellini '22 and Maria Cioffi '16. The Sarasota, Fla. native went 18-10 in singles and 22-5 in doubles during the 2023-24 campaign while playing exclusively at first singles and first doubles.
A markets, innovation & design major, King has been a mainstay on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and the Bucknell Dean's List. She has held several marketing and social media internships throughout her collegiate career and is a small business founder.
King is now 62-19 in doubles during her career, which is tied for eighth in program history, and 48-20 in singles. She's tied for 12th on Bucknell's career combined singles and doubles victories list. With her senior season still ahead, her .738 career combined winning percentage ranks sixth in program history.
Bucknell has landed a student-athlete on the Academic All-Patriot League Team in four consecutive seasons.
