Bison Athletes Surpass Seeding at NCAA East Preliminaries

LEXINGTON, Ky.- The Bucknell Bison women's track & field team completed the NCAA East Preliminaries on Saturday with Karen Hull and Justley Sharp outperforming their entry seeds in the high jump and discus.Â

Hull finished her historic Bucknell career by tying her outdoor high jump record of 5-9 1/4. Hull placed 24th, which was five spots higher than her entry seed of 29. It was an improvement of 19 slots over her 43rd place finish at the 2023 NCAA East
Preliminaries. It is the highest placement in the high jump at the regional level since Amy Mantush earned 20th in 2007. Hull completed her Orange & Blue tenure, holding the record in both the indoor and outdoor high jumps.Â
Sharp entered the competition as the 48th seed (the final contestant to gain entry) and she placed six spots higher at 42nd. The freshman thrower flung the discus 153-11 feet. She became the first Bison since Sarah Bella (2009) to compete in the event at the regional level. Sharp will look to return to the East Preliminaries over the next three seasons.Â
Three of four Bucknell's athletes, during the preliminaries, equaled or surpassed their seeding.Â

Evelyn Bliss will compete in the NCAA National Championships in early June. The freshman javelin thrower finished fifth on Thursday to clinch the assignment. The National Championships will held at the University of Oregon.
