LEWISBURG, Pa. – Four members of the Bucknell wrestling team were named EIWA Academic Achievement Award winners for the 2023-24 season, the conference announced Sunday. The award recognizes wrestlers for their dedication and motivation to excel on and off the mat.
Kurt Phipps (133) earned the award for a fourth consecutive year, Dylan Chappell (141) and Dorian Crosby (285) were recognized for a second year in a row, and Noah Mulvaney (165) was honored for the first time following his first collegiate season.
To qualify for the EIWA Academic Achievement Award, wrestlers must have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.2 and participated in the EIWA Tournament or have achieved a cumulative 3.0 GPA and represented the EIWA and their institution at the NCAA Championships.
Each of Bucknell's four honorees posted cumulative GPAs above the 3.2 minimum, and all four competed at the NCAA Championships. Additionally, all four Bison landed on the NWCA Scholar All-America list that was released last week.
Bucknell's four honorees each posted wins at the NCAA Championships in March, highlighted by Phipps' run to the blood round with a 3-2 record at the tournament. Chappell and Crosby were both EIWA runners-up at the EIWA Championships, while Phipps placed fourth and Mulvaney placed sixth. All four eclipsed the 20-win mark this season. Phipps and Mulvaney tied for the team lead with 28 victories.
The following are the Bucknell wrestling team's 2024 EIWA All-Academic Team members:
Kurt Phipps, Sr., civil engineering/management for engineers
Dylan Chappell, Jr., chemical engineering/management for engineers
Noah Mulvaney, Fr., undeclared management
Dorian Crosby, Sr., early childhood education
