BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Bucknell men's tennis team bounced back nicely after dropping the doubles point, winning all 12 singles sets on the way to a 6-1 road win over Loyola on Sunday afternoon. Freshman Ethan Esclamado made his first career start in a dual match and helped lead the charge with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.Â
The Bison improved to 12-5 overall and 2-1 in Patriot League action. Amar Tahirovic and Liam Kilmer were 6-1 winners at No. 2 doubles, but the Greyhounds won the other two doubles tilts as the Bison shuffled their lineup a bit. NIcholas Haggar and Oliver Davey outlasted Oscar Bain Moreno de Vega and Adam Stavrakas in a tiebreaker at No. 1 to clinch the point for Loyola.Â
But the Bison came back and dominated singles play. Bucknell conceded more than two games in only three of the 12 sets, with Tahorivic setting the tone with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Matt Cardano in the No. 1 spot. Stavrakas, Bain, Kilmer, Tim Zelikovsky, and Esclamado also won in straight sets.Â
Zelikovsky improved to 25-2 on the season, including a perfect 4-0 mark in the No. 5 spot in the lineup. Bain (22-8), Tahirovic (21-6), and Kilmer (20-5) have also hit the 20-win mark, and the Bison are now 129-51 in singles this season.Â
Bucknell has two more road matches next weekend, taking on Drexel on Saturday and Navy on Sunday.Â
