Women's Water Polo Falls to No. 11 Michigan in Competitive Contest

LEWISBURG, PA - Bucknell displayed a courageous effort in the opening game against Michigan over the weekend. However, despite their best efforts, they couldn't seize the lead, ultimately falling short with Michigan clinching a 13-7 victory.

The Bucknell women's water polo team kicked off the weekend with high energy, narrowly missing the opening swim-off against Michigan.
Michigan quickly secured the lead, with senior attacker Kata Utassy putting them on the scoreboard first. However, Bucknell swiftly responded, with senior attacker Isabelle Monaghan capitalizing on a foul at the 3:48 mark. The Bison leveled the score 2-2 with their second goal, courtesy of Malli Challa's shot rebound from Isabelle Monaghan's attempt.

Bolstered by a resilient defense, Bucknell limited Michigan to just one goal in the third quarter while managing to outscore them by two. Both teams exchanged points throughout the remainder of the half.
The pivotal moment of the game occurred in the fourth quarter when Bucknell mounted a significant offensive push, netting three goals. Sophomore center Bella Schraa contributed two goals, while freshman attacker Caitlin Stott added one to the tally. Despite this push, it wasn't enough to close the gap.
