LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women's tennis junior Whitney King was named to the All-Patriot League First Team for a second year in a row when the league announced its 2024 postseason awards on Tuesday. King is the eighth Bucknell women's tennis player to make the All-Patriot League First Team twice in her career.
For a second time in the last three seasons, King racked up 18 singles wins while holding down the fort at court one for the Bison. Even more impressive was King's 22-6 doubles record, which ties her 2021-22 win total and ranks 10th in program history for a single season. King earned singles wins over Loyola, Lafayette and Colgate in Patriot League duals, and she went 3-2 in doubles against league foes.
King ended the year by winning seven of her last 10 in singles and eight of her last 10 in doubles.
A native of Sarasota, Fla., King is now 62-19 in doubles play during her career, which is tied for eighth in program history. She has played almost exclusively alongside sophomore Abby Platt over the last two seasons, and the pair is 9-2 in Patriot League dual doubles.
King moved from 29th into a tie for 12th on Bucknell's career combined singles and doubles victories list, achieving 110 total wins against just 39 losses over the last three seasons. With her senior season still ahead, her .738 career combined winning percentage ranks sixth in program history.
