Bucknell 2V8 Named Patriot League Boat of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. – After winning the Grand Final at the George Mason Invitational on Sunday, Bucknell's Second Varsity Eight has been selected as the Patriot League Boat of the Week.
The 2V8+, under the direction of coxswain Hattie Hopper and stroked by Haley Beardsley, finished second to George Washington in its morning heat but then came back in the afternoon to cut 18 seconds off its prelim time and edge the runner-up Revolutionaries by four seconds. Bucknell finished in 6:55.0, followed by GW (6:59.0), Delaware (7:01.9), West Virginia (7:02.7), Duquesne (7:10.3), and Villanova (7:13.8).
Rounding out the 2V8+ were Campbell Coonley, Annabelle Kaeili, Iris Chase, Caroline Corbett, Morgan Brill, Colby Bernhard, and Clara Eikeboom.
It was a strong day for the Bison program on the Occoquan on Sunday. The Varsity Eight and Varsity Four both placed second in their respective Grand Finals.
The Bison rowing team will have two competitions at home this coming weekend. Bucknell will host Duquesne on Saturday at 4:30 p.m., and then Connecticut will join the Bison on the Susquehanna River on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Sunday's races will be followed by the team's annual oar ceremony honoring the senior class.
