
Bucknell Swim & Dive Lands Eight on 2024 CSC Academic All-District Teams

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Eight members of the Bucknell men's and women's swimming & diving teams were named to the 2024 Academic All-District Team, selected by College Sports Communicators. On the women's side, Caroline McGann made the list for a second year in a row, while Meghan Catherwood, Esme Hunter and Skye Sunderhauf were each selected for the first time. Justin DiSanto and Chris Kopac became two-time recipients on the men's side, while Braden Beagle and Andy Dorsel were honored for the first time.
The Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom.
Three of Bucknell's Academic All-District honorees, Hunter, McGann and Kopac, were voted to the Academic All-Patriot League Team in March. Dorsel, Kopac and Hunter were each All-Patriot League honorees in 2024.
McGann, a double major in economics and geography, adds two-time Academic All-District Team member to a host of academic awards she's received throughout her career. The 2023-24 SAAC President has twice earned Academic All-League honors and was a 2023 All-Patriot League performer at the championship meet.
Catherwood, a junior biology major, possesses a 4.0 cumulative GPA. She scored 26 points at this year's Patriot League Championships and was an NCAA Zone Diving Championships participant last season. Hunter, a senior early childhood education major, earned her first Academic All-League selection this season and is a three-time All-Patriot League Team member. Hunter placed fourth in the 100 backstroke at the championship meet and was a member of Bucknell's school-record setting 200 freestyle relay team. Sunderhauf, a junior animal behavior and environment studies major, scored 51 points at the Patriot League Championships, including an eighth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke.
Kopac, a junior business analytics major, is now a two-time Academic All-District and two-time Academic All-Patriot League honoree. He earned a spot on the All-Patriot League First Team this season and has been an All-League selection all three years during his career. Kopac took bronze medals in the 200 freestyle and as a member of the 800 freestyle relay team this season. DiSanto, a junior economics major, was also a 2023 Academic All-District Team member and 2023 Academic All-League honoree. He swam on four fourth-place relay teams at the league championships this season.
Beagle, a sophomore accounting major, scored 31 points at the Patriot League Championships and went on to register the third-fastest 200 backstroke in program history at the 2024 ECAC Championships. Dorsel made his third All-Patriot League Team this season after scoring 66 points at the championship meet. He earned a bronze medal in the 400 IM and as part of Bucknell's 800 freestyle relay team. He also placed seventh in the 200 butterfly.
