Women's Tennis Falls to No. 2 Seed Navy in PL Quarterfinals to Conclude 2023-24 Season

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The seventh-seeded Bucknell women's tennis team took on Patriot League Tournament host Navy in Friday's quarterfinal round, and the second-seeded Mids prevailed by a 4-0 victory to bring the Bison's 2023-24 season to a close. Navy clinched the doubles point and won three in singles to advance to Saturday's semifinals.
Navy's Olivia Fermo and Emily Tannenbaum won 6-0 at second doubles, and Parvathi Shanker and Kate Lee won 6-0 at third doubles to give the Mids a 1-0 start to the contest. Bucknell's Whitney King and Abby Platt were leading 3-2 at first doubles before the match went unfinished.
Samantha Johns picked up Navy's second point, defeating Anna Lajos 6-1, 6-0 at court two singles. Kate Lee then defeated Tyne Miller 6-2, 6-2 at court four singles. The Mids clinched the win with Tannenbaum's 6-1, 6-3 win over King at first singles.
Bucknell ends the season with a 10-13 records and went 2-5 in Patriot League duals. The Bison defeated Lafayette and Loyola in its last two duals of the regular season.
Navy will now face third-seeded Army in Saturday's semifinals. Top-seeded Boston U. will face No. 5 seed Lehigh.
