Women's Track & Field Wins Two Weekly Awards

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison women's track & field team received two weekly awards the league office announced Tuesday. Senior Karen Hull won Field Athlete of the Week and freshman Evelyn Bliss was crowned Rookie of the Week.
Hull continued her jumping prowess from the indoor season. The senior star's 5-7 ¾ high jump mark finished second in the event. The attempt ranks first in the Patriot League, 16th in the East Preliminaries, and 33rd nationally. Her participation in the long jump was also notable. The 18-6 ½ mark sits third in the Patriot League.
Bliss' first collegiate invitational was a rousing success. The freshman thrower won silver in the javelin with a prodigious toss of 173-9. The mark ranks second in Bucknell history, leads the Patriot League, third in the East Preliminaries, and ninth nationally.
"Evie was locked in, and ready for this meet," said throws coach Ryan Protzman. "She's such a talented athlete and works hard to maximize her potential. It was a great starting point for her career and for this season."
The two award winners and the Bison return to action on March 30 at the Lafayette Invitational.
