Baseball Falls to No. 22 Campbell in Series Finale

Campbell (11-4) hit eight home runs in the game, including three from leadoff hitter Grant Knipp, who finished 4-for-6 with six RBIs and four runs scored. Dalen Thompson homered twice as part of a 3-for-4 afternoon and drove in four runs.
Thompson's two-out, two-run homer off freshman starter Jake Schultz (0-3) staked Campbell to an early 2-0 lead. Kender's first home run of the season got the Bison on the board in the top of the second, but the Camels retaliated with four in the bottom of the frame, capped by Jonah Oster's 3-run shot.
Bucknell pulled within 6-5 in the third on Tyler Dunn's RBI single and Trommer's three-run double to deep center. But Knipp hit the first of his three long balls in the bottom of the third to drive in three, and the Camels kept the runs coming.
For the second straight game, Bucknell chased Campbell's starting pitcher early, only to run into a tough bullpen. After scoring five runs in 2.2 innings against Cy Cox, Ethan Snyder (1-0) and Nate Brittain covered the final 6.1 allowing no runs on five hits.
Next up for the Bison is a single game at George Mason on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Patriots, who also won twice in the NCAA Regionals last season, are 7-7 this year after taking 2 of 3 from Monmouth over the weekend.
