LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Patriot League office announced the Men's Track & Field Academic All-League Team on Friday. Bucknell placed two student-athletes, Wade Shomper and Ethan Wolford-Tuffy, on the prestigious list of 19 athletes. It is the first time since 2017 that Bucknell placed two members on the league team.Â
Shomper, a sophomore thrower from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Arts major posted a cumulative GPA of 3.75. He has been a prominent young thrower for the Bison and recently broke into the Bucknell top five for the shot put. Shomper threw the sphere 55-1 1/2 feet at the 2024 Patriot League Indoor Championships to place fourth. His mark ranks fifth all-time in Bucknell history.Â
Wolford-Tuffy, a senior dashman from Macedon, New York, and a Civil Engineering major, has earned a cumulative GPA of 3.83. The sprinter has always been a decisive force for Bucknell, but his senior season has been one for the history books. He won silver and broke the school record for the 400-meter dash at the Indoor Championships. His time of 47.18 shattered the old mark by 0.28 seconds. Earlier in the season, he ran a 35.00 in the 300-meter dash to set the Gerhard Fieldhouse record. The speed also ranks fifth in Bison history.Â
Candidates for the Patriot League Academic All-League Team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.20 and participate for one academic year at their institution.Â
